Our client is an American multinational manufacturing company known for its innovative products and unique corporate culture. Founded in 1958 and headquartered in Newark, Delaware, this company has built a reputation for excellence across various industries. Their most notable product, a very special fabric, revolutionized the outdoor clothing and gear market with its waterproof and breathable properties.

In addition, they produce a wide range of high-performance products, including medical devices like synthetic vascular grafts and hernia repair patches, specialized cables and materials for electronic applications, and industrial products such as filtration solutions and sealing products.

About the project

The analytics team supports two clients’ brands by enabling data-driven decision-making through robust data infrastructure and well-designed data pipelines. The team’s mission is to maintain a secure, efficient, and scalable system that ensures high data availability and quality. Leveraging state-of-the-art processes and tools, the team continually evolves to meet the current and future demands of the business.

We are seeking a data engineer to provide business support, build data pipelines, and automate business processes to enable data-driven decision-making and increase operational efficiency.

The current tech stack includes:

  • Git and Docker for development workflows.
  • Airflow with Python for ETL and business automation.
  • Redshift as our data warehouse.
  • SQL-based data pipelines using dbt for transformations.
  • Power BI is the primary interface for business users.

Responsibilities

  • Enable data-driven decisions across all business functions.
  • Take ownership of the maintenance and optimization of critical data pipelines.
  • Integrate new data sources by connecting to APIs and other external systems.
  • Transform raw data through the Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers and build efficient and usable datasets.
  • Make data available to business users, mainly through Power BI
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve failures within the reporting system.
  • Collaborate with brand subject matter experts to understand their data needs and requirements.
  • Partner with business users to enhance their digital and data competencies.
  • Stay organized in managing requests and delivering solutions.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Git and preferably also Docker.
  • Knowledge of SQL and Python.
  • Experience with Airflow and dbt (or willingness to learn).
  • Experience with Power BI or other self-service data tool is desirable.
  • Team player with the ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of various projects.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment and collaborate across different time zones.
  • Willingness to learn and understand the needs and priorities of apparel brands.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • At least an Upper-Intermediate level of English.
